User Data Collected
PupFence.com collects two types of user data, personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information. Below, we will explain what each type means and how it can be used by a website.
Personally identifiable information
What is personally identifiable information?
Personally identifiable information is information that can be used to identify a user as an individual. Information that is most commonly asked for in this category is fully name, email address, phone number, home address. Personally identifiable data also includes biometric information, SSN, and other personal identification numbers.
Why do websites need personally identifiable information?
Personally identifiable information may be necessary in some cases, depending on the website niche. At PupFence.com, when it comes to personally identifiable information, we generally only ask for your name and email address, to contact you, or to reply to your communication.
What happens to personally identifiable information on PupFence.com?
Personally identifiable information is of a highly sensitive nature. We will never collect this information without your consent. If you decide to share personally identifiable information with us in the situations we will specify below, we will never share it with any third parties, unless we are required to do so by law, or upon request from a relevant authority.
If you have shared personally identifiable information with us, but would like to have it removed, you can send us an email at email@example.com. We will remove said information in maximum 30 days after receiving your request.
Non-personally identifiable information
What is non-personally identifiable information?
Non-personally identifiable information is any type of information that cannot be used to identify a user specifically. This information varies greatly based on its purpose, from demographic information, such as general age group, level of education, gender to marketing information, such as general browsing interests, and information relevant only for the website specifically, such as the time users tend to access the website, what pages they visit, or how long they spend reading an article.
Why do we collect it?
As we mentioned, there are a few categories of non-personally identifiable information. These categories are based on the purpose of the information collected from users.
Demographic information, such as age group and gender, give us a big picture of who our readers are. This information allows us to better tailor our content to what our readers might find fun and informative. It also allows us to anticipate our users’ interests.
Marketing information is quite similar to demographic information. Since we are a review website, marketing information allows us to understand what our readers would like to know about, and what product suggestions they may need. It allows us to contribute to a customized browsing experience.
Lastly, there is what we could call technical information. This information is used, in part, again to give us a better idea of how our website is being used, which areas we should focus on, and which should be improved. It also allows us to optimize our website from a technical stand-point. Information such as the browser you are using, the operating system, or the device, allows the web pages to display correctly to your specifications.
What happens to it?
As mentioned, non-personally identifiable information is used for a variety of reasons to optimize the website and its content. General information about our users is collected automatically when users visit our website. We accumulate statistics about our users constantly.
How do you collect this information?
Personally identifiable information is collected only with your consent. We will never collect this type of information without your knowledge.
You will be asked to share personally identifiable information when you leave a comment on our website, or when you fill out the Contact form. The information we will ask you to provide us with is only for communication purposes. We will ask for your email address and name to know who we are addressing, and how to get in touch. You can choose not to share your real name with us when you fill out the contact form. You can also choose not to share your email address when you leave a comment. However, we will not be able to reply without your email address.
Non-personally identifiable information is collected via cookies. Cookies can only collect non-personally identifiable information. We also collect non-personally identifiable information through log files. This information is strictly related to website usage, such as time and date of access, pages visited, browser used etc.
